Oh wow dude! 10 minutes!? That looked like a ton of work!
Those 3D backgrounds are crazy awesome! Great job blending them with your
2D characters. Also the VO is so expressive, great job all. Funny dialouge, great action, and super cool music! I'm curious about the overarching story and how this new character relates.
This is your best yet!!! Super excited for more. XD

WHOOKOS responds:

Thanks! I had a hard time blending the characters with the background in the past, so I'm glad I'm improving! And I'm so glad the voices fit. Poor voice acting plagued my past work.

I LOVE the voice acting and the music! Great work there. They are so good that this is actually really entertaining with the audio alone. I also think the world you've developed here is really interesting and well thought out.

My biggest complaint is the animation, character designs, and backgrounds. The animation is very flat and not as expressive as it could be. The character line art and the background line art could be cleaner as well. I enjoy the color choices in the background but the compositons are flat and have little depth and are poorly drawn at times.

This is a very ambitious project and I really admire your dedication to this original work of art! Keep it up! :D

Blordow responds:

lol

Ok i will grow up now, I appreciate the review, the sound work and music is what I am most proud of, but I don't think you have a right to "complain" about the character designs, animation and backgrounds. I am really proud of how the bgs turned out, whether or not they're flat, it's just my style and took a tonne of work, especially on my small ass bamboo fun tablet, you get to a certain zoom level where it's almost impossible to draw, so naturally the linework isn't going to be consistent. The animation is sloppy here and there for sure, but it's a step up from my normal work. In terms of criticizing character design, you rely on copyrighted characters, with simple aesthetics. Sorry but you came across a little patronizing, to me anyway. Cheers.

That was crazy cool! Kinda reminded me of Adventure Time... but better.

KartuneHustla responds:

Better than adventure time... holy crap awesome. Its funny how many people say how much my work reminds me of that show. I'll take it though thanks

Zelda looked like a giant man dressed in drag.

LewToons responds:

haha jeez, i knew i sucked at drawing women, but i didn't think it was that bad!

Good for a second flash!

Nice original story based in the Zelda world. I was expecting Link to appear at some point but it was still interesting none the less!

I didn't know this was only your second attempt at making an animation! Great work for your second attempt (my second attempt was much worse lol) My favorite thing about this was the use of color- very vibrant and you chose lots of great purples and stark contrasts that really remind me of the majora's mask art style. I also loved the cinematic camera angles- you really have an eye for setting the mood in that way.

The thing that bothered me the most was the character animation. If seems like nearly all of this was tweened. In some places that works just fine but in others it looks very awkward. I used to only tween when I first started using flash but after reading some books on traditional 2D animation I realized that frame by frame animation is MUCH more effective and much less restrictive. Try learning some frame by frame techniques and implimenting that into the tweening techniques that work well in your animations.

Thanks for sharing this! :D

Eastbeast responds:

Yeah I wanted to have the charcters try to hold their own without Link because I really admire them :) So far I am incredibley grateful for the constructive comments I've recieved about this, especially from and artist that inspires me such as you. Yeah this wouldn't have made it without the darkness of major that I love so much. The most that I could ask is that people want to revisit the game after this.

You know you are absolutely right! Frame by frame is my logical next step, so maybe you could pm me some pointers on where to begin with that. haha I sure love to throw that camera around. ffex is showing me how to make it less squishy, thank you for your review :)

Wow!

loved it! awesome stuff. *favorited*

Jae responds:

Thanks a lort!!

cool but...

His legs don't really look like they're attached to his body. They seem to float around his circular lower body.

When anything walks the whole body goes through a process of ups and downs, not just the legs. Maybe you were trying to give him a strange walk since he's a fictional creature of some sort but it still needs the ups and downs.

"The Animator's Survival Guide" by Richard Williams is an awesome book for animation and includes walk cycles. Check it out if you can. Hope that helps.

Manderby responds:

His body has ups and downs but not excessively. The legs were tricky. :) Thanks for the hint.

Now i want a sandwhich!

Great job! Loved it! Funny and good animation.

(This is super nit-picky but if it helps- the throw at the milk bottles movement needs a follow through. you know, like his arm trailing down after he throws. it will help it feel more like a throw.)

You're very talented! Keep it up!

eddsworld responds:

Hmm i thought it did that.. maybe i need to make it more clear! - Glad you liked it though :D

Short...

A bit short, but the joke was cute.
Animation felt really stiff.

Eddache responds:

It was for the Street Fighter collab. It had to be no more than 30 seconds (at least, that's what the rules said originally. Not many seemed to follow that rule though).

Hmm..

Okay I'm gunna be completely honest here, you really went crazy with that blur effect. At first it was fine but after seeing it what felt like 20 times I was no longer impressed. What seemed like the opening sequence seemed much longer then the actual "meat" of the episode.

I see there was a lot of effort put into this but you should not rely so much on effects. Good old fashioned animation is what is going to make your submissions better.

Fate responds:

Yeah. Thanks a bunch.
good old fashion animation is what was the 'meat' of the animation. and the intro was exactly that. an intro. it was long because the song was long, while establishing something for those who've followed the story. I didn't set out to impress you with blur filters.
