Okay so a lot of people have been asking me all sorts of different questions about Asaroki, so I thought "Hey, maybe I should just answer them all right here!"
Common Questions-
Is the Asaroki series already finished?
- Yes, I finished it last June.
When will we see all the episodes on Newgrounds?
- It will be released in about 10 different episodes, I will try to release about 1 every couple weeks.
Where can I see the whole movie and can I download it anywhere?
- You can see the whole movie on my website (www.laurakerger.com) but the quality there is low. I am working on making a download of the full movie on my website, check there for updates.
This reminds me of Elfenlied, is there a connection there?
-I love Elfenlied but I wrote this script before I saw the series. Although I had seen it while I was animating it so maybe there is some sort of connection there.
(my favorite question) Are you really a girl?
-yes... I am... I know, weird right? A girl that likes anime, video games, and creating crazy little cartoons!
Asaroki History!
Alright, so here's some history on it.
Asaroki originally started as a comic book that I made in high school. (there's a page from it below) I wrote about 10 pages until I realized that I wanted to animate the story instead. Where can you see the comic? Well I might post it on my website (www.laurakerger.com) eventually. Okay so by July 2006 I had finished all of the initial prep work, including writing the script, creating all the characters, and sketching out storyboards.
Once I had everything the way I wanted it I gathered a group of about 20 friends and took them into my basement to start recording the voice parts. Some parts were simple two liners while others had over 200 lines! Once the voices were recorded I timed them to sound effects and music. Once that was finished I knew how much work was ahead of me because the soundtrack was 1 hour and 10 minutes in length from beginning to end.
From Summer of 06 to late Spring of 08 I animated the movie. Once it was finshed I presented it at my high school movie theater to an audience of over 150 friends, family, and students. I have created a DVD of the movie with all the priliminary artwork, sound tests, and movie trailor for friends and family but if anyone really wants it just let me know.
Anyways, thanks for listening, I hope that answers some questions. Please check back soon!
